La Boheme 2016: Just a note to say how much we enjoyed the Sunday Matinee performance of La Bohème. A great production and terrific voices/performances. Thank you to all.
Elixir of Love 2017: Just a quick note to thank you for arranging our night at the opera! We thoroughly enjoyed Elixir of Love. My visit to see a Glyndebourne performance was good but I have to say I enjoyed Arcadian Opera more. Truly!
The Wreckers 2018: I was thrilled from the first chord of the overture and, like most people, I was surreptitiously sniffing by the end. I particularly loved the way that the chorus combined fantastic, thrilling singing with acting as good as anything I’ve seen at the Coliseum or Covent Garden.
Romeo & Juliet 2019: I really thought that you wouldn’t be able to better than The Wreckers, but you have. Last night was wonderful. The whole performance was a delight from beginning to end. Thank you so much.
Romeo & Juliet 2019: Loved the costumes, and the way the set worked, particularly the chapel and the apothecary set to the side, and the tombs set in front of the round arches – lovely details… The orchestra played well and with spirit. The soloists were a terrific treat, and the chorus’s singing and movement about the stage was very good. We expected to like it but we loved it.
Dido & Anaeas 2020 (Open Air Covid Safe Production): Once again, Arcadian Opera exceeded our expectations! Despite the high wind whipping up the Greek tunics to a frenzy we heard every beautiful note and every word. The whole experience was so uplifting – thank you for taking the risk!
The Magic Flute 2021: I have been to every one of Arcadian Opera’s many and varied productions and they never fail to enthrall. I had thought the Wreckers was my favourite until I saw Romeo and Juliet. And now I’ve seen the Magic Flute I’m sure that this was the best yet! Amazing singers, wonderful acting by the whole cast, bright and colourful costumes and imaginative and immersive sets – all in our own small theatre. We’re so lucky.
Gounod’s Faust 2022: Just to say how deeply I enjoyed the performance on Sunday – it was a real privilege to hear and watch such talent from the young soloists – thank you for making it happen.
Don Giovanni 2023: We were taken to see Arcadian Opera for the first time this year. I can’t believe that this has been happening every year from 2018 and we have only just joined the party! It was entirely wonderful: singers, setting, costumes and atmosphere – what an undiscovered gem Arcadian Opera is – see you next year!
Carmen 2024: What a feast for the senses! The projections were completely wonderful, so detailed and atmospheric that the whole performance was totally enthralling. As we have come to expect of Arcadian Opera, the singers, as ever, were all without exception, excellent; the costumes and props brilliantly designed and the chorus enthusiasm was palpable. We were there, in Seville!
